Dan Lawson        Dan Lawson

Dan Lawson’s reputation as one of America’s premiere guitar players speaks for itself. Dan and his style have evolved into a charismatic blues-rock sound like no other! He’s a singer-songwriter of stylistic depth and emotional resonance. His ability to connect with live concert audiences is transformational, and his new album will bring that same energy.

Growing up in a small Maryland Town at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay and with the encouragment of a great teacher Mr. Bryson Curry, Dan was always around great family musicians. His Uncle Roy Parks was guitarist with Country Music Great “Tex Ritter,” that’s where Dan got the “calling.” Dan does not just play guitar, his guitar tells a story of passion and soul! Dan’s music is a vast mix of Rock, Blues, Jazz, and Funk! The band allows the music to speak for them! Dan is also a frequent performer at all the Major Blues Festivals through out North America such as The Ottawa Blues Festival and the Mont-Tremblant Blues Festival in Montreal Canada — and ALL the major motorcycle events in North America. Dan has performed for Sturgis Bike Week in Sturgis, South Dakota, with national acts Kid Rock, Joe Walsh, Lynyrd Skynyrd, George Thorogood, Blue Oyster Cult, Alice Cooper, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Toby Keith and Papa Roach. The Dan Lawson Band is always a crowd favorite during Sturgis and Daytona Bike Weeks. Dan also performed the National Anthem for former presidential candidate John McCain.

From an early age the heart of 5years old the blues was embedded in Dan.  At the age of 16, and with tremendous talent, Dan would sneak into clubs in order to perform with Boston Blues greats such as James Montgomery and Weepin’ Willie Robinson to name a few.

Dan has had the honor of sharing the stage with rock legends such as Mark Farner, John Mayall, Mark Mendoza of Twisted Sister, Matt “Guitar” Murphy formerly of the Blues Brothers, Mike “Tunes” Antunes of the Beaver Brown Band, Chris “Whipper” Layton of “Double Trouble”, The 4 Tops, Jr. Walker’s Allstar’s, The Contours, Bad Company, Styx, R.E.O. Tim Provost

With a dose of Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw and others, along with his mother’s love of rockabilly and country, the “groove juice” was Tim Provost force-fed to his soul. Seeing Buddy Rich on the Tonight Show “kinda sealed the deal.” But it wasn’t jazz that he would dive into, it was the blues and rock music that his siblings would put on the record player. “I remember hearing the Allman Brothers, Led Zeppelin, the J. Geils Band, Steely Dan, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd and all the blues rock stuff of that era…I was hooked. That heavy-duty pulse, the groove that made all the music go and the feeling of ‘laying it down’…man, that was it.” Not formally trained, he would “shed” in the cellar with the headphones cranked, trying to figure out what he was hearing on the drums. After a lot of practice, he would go through the typical garage bands and the like, playing parties and small clubs that would disregard his under-age status. “I always played with older guys. I think that helped accelerate the experience factor.”

Tim currently tours the country with The Dan Lawson Band. Tim’s credits include playing with Roomful of Blues, Young Neal, The Groove Masters, James Montgomery and Mark Mendoza of Twisted Sister. He has opened for Eddie Money, The Outlaws, Foghat, Charlie Farren, Danny Klein of the J. Geils Band, Rick Derringer, Blue Oyster Cult, ZZ Top.
